Staff and senior students at the college work collaboratively to ensure the transition from primary to secondary level is achieved as smoothly as possible and our Care Team is available to deal with any concerns or anxieties which may arise during this time.
Our policy on restricting class size in First Year guarantees individualised attention from a highly qualified and experienced teaching staff. Recognising the importance of parental influence in the education process, Ennis Community College is committed to working closely with parents so that as a team we may work more effectively at helping each student maximise his/her potential.
The provisions of a broad-based and varied curriculum affords students the opportunity to develop their unique talents and skills across a range of programmes.
This is complemented by the wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer and the highly developed Resource Department caters for students who have special educational needs. A Large Diverse Campus
Our campus is spread across three schools and our faculty work in both Irish and English languages. We have a diverse range of subjects. Some of our diverse subject areas are technology, music, engineering, hair and beauty to name a few. A recent national survey reported that 97% of our students progressed to third level.
We recently completed our new, state of the art building which enhances our facilities for all students. The design of our new school significantly enhance our teaching and learning environment with state of the art buildings that include many new classrooms, Home Economics Room, Art Room, Science Laboratory, Engineering Rooms, IT Suite, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite and Library.
A Modern Digital School
We have placed a strong emphasis and investment into Digital learning. All our staff have been trained in the use of online platforms, video creation and screencasting. We integrate our teaching strategies into our online learning to effectively produce online lessons. Our school community were ahead of the curve during lockdown, rolling out lessons quickly.
Ennis Community College has partnered with Google and uses education productivity tools like Google Classroom, Google documents and Google Meet for conferencing, live streaming and student collaboration.
Pupils use their G Suite accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers and learn 21st century digital skills. We have a strong focus on digital etiquette and internet safety. We have in excess of 100 Chromebooks onsite for use by our students and staff alongside over 100 pc’s to support your child’s learning.
Our school took part in a European project aimed to enhance the capacity of non-ICT specialist teachers to provide interactive, student-centred teaching and learning using technology.
Book Rental Scheme and Free Homework Club
All our students have access to free homework club and supervised study after school. We also run a book rental scheme in the school to support parents with the return to school costs.
Healthy Complimentary School Meals
A professionally run school food programme, providing a variety of fresh food daily to all our students at breakfast, break and lunch times. These consist of filled bread rolls, scones, fruit, yoghurts, crackers, rice cakes and water. All of these are provided free of charge during morning and lunch break. We also provide a hot meal with fruit and water at the cost of €2.20. All our food is cooked on site and we promote and provide a healthy eating plan for our students.
